Geographical Location

Strategically situated within Europe

Ghent is situated strategically within Europe. The city is located at the crossroads of other economically strong areas such as the Randstad Holland in the north, the Ruhrgebied in the east, London in the west and the big French cities Paris and Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing in the south.

So North, East, South or West. Ghent can be easily reached by plane, car or train.

Roads

Ghent, also capital of the Province of East Flanders, is easy to reach from Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp and Kortrijk, thanks to the highways E40 and E17. Nearby Brussels Airport and High Speed Trains make the city very accessible.

Water

Thanks to its location at the merging point of the rivers ‘Leie’ and ‘Schelde’, Ghent has an important port that is linked to the Westerschelde and the North Sea via the Gent-Terneuzen canal.
